AUCA faculty has been honored with the Matthew Nimetz Award

On Wednesday, December 19 AUCA faculty honored with the Matthew Nimetz research award for publications in Scopus.Ìý Chingiz Shamshiev, AUCA Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, awarded AUCA faculty and presented the certificates of appreciation to them along with the speech encouraging to academic career development.

“This is a 2nd awarding ceremony of Matthew Nimetz for research publications. According to the strategies for 3 years to increase the number of publications in Scopus by AUCA faculty, we are still the only university from Kyrgyzstan being in QS ranking. We are among the top 10 Central Asian universities. Publications in Scopus increases academic performance and a quality level that impacts on presence the QS ranking.ÌýOver the past 5 years, we have been strengthening scientific research performance and encourage our faculty to apply for research project funds. It is a great pleasure for me to work with you, and award you today, dear faculty. Thanks to our former trustee, Matthew Nimetz who has been in the Board for many years", addressed Chingiz Shamshiev.

TheÌý“Matthew Nimetz award for publications in Scopus†(MNAPS)Ìýaims at honoring the efforts of outstanding researchers at AUCA and encouraging them to exert more for the sake of elevating academic research at AUCA to the highest levels. The award also aims at increasing research productivity and uplifting the AUCA in QS EECA ranking and augmenting AUCA research activity visibility.

MATTHEW NIMETZ is an Advisory Director (formally Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, 2000-2013) of General Atlantic LLC, a leading private investment firm. Mr. Nimetz was born in New York, and attended Williams College, Oxford University and Harvard Law School, where he was president of the Harvard Law Review. Mr. Nimetz served both on the board of the Central European University and AUCA, on which he has served since 2011 to 2018.
