Celebration of the National Language Day of the Kyrgyz Republic in AUCA

On September 24, 2024, AUCA Library in collaboration with the General Education program celebrated the National Language Day of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The event gathered AUCA faculty, staff, students, and other guests. At the event, professor of the Technical School of Innovation AUCA Burul Shambayeva B presented her 鈥淜yrgyz Proverbs鈥� book. The author shared the story of her book containing 500 unique proverbs in Kyrgyz and their equivalents in Russian and English. Professor Shambayeva also offered an engaging activity to the audience helping to learn the Kyrgyz proverbs and sayings and discuss their cultural significance. The audience highly appreciated the publication which will be a valuable resource for Kyrgyz language learners of all ages.

Following the book鈥檚 presentation, Nurgyz Tuiteeva, coordinator of the English language programs of the U.S Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, shared information about the Embassy鈥檚 Book Translation Program, discussing program requirements and opportunities. Ms. Baktynur Abdieva, journalist and translator, also attended the event and shared her experience of participating in the book projects supported by the U.S. Embassy. She highlighted the collaborative nature of these translation projects and emphasized the important contributions of everyone involved in Kyrgyz-language book publishing in the country.

A special performance was presented by the AUCA students. Also, three out of the seven participants were announced as winners of the Poetry Reading Contest on the Library鈥檚 social media and received awards. We express our gratitude to all the attendees who attended this event.
